What Happens after October 30?
For Immediate Release - October 10, 1995Canadians to get a vote on Canada in wake of Quebec Referendum - on the Internet.
- If it's "Yes" do we recognize an independent Quebec?
- Should Bloc Quebecois MPs resign?
- How much of the debt should Quebec be forced to accept?
- If it's "No" do we make Quebec a new offer?
- Should Lucien Bouchard remain as Leader of the Opposition?
- Is it time to recognize Quebec as "distinct"?
Canadians outside Quebec are being given an unprecedented opportunity of voting on Canada's future in a massive Internet poll and discussion site co-sponsored by Baton Broadcasting Inc. (CFTO) and Online Direct Inc., of Toronto.
"This is the closest that people in the rest of Canada will get to having a say on what happens to the country after October 30th," says Online Direct president Greg Vezina, "and I am hopeful that by using the Internet, tens of thousands of Canadians will be empowered to speak up on this vital issue."
Effective tomorrow, Wednesday October 11, Canadians will be able to access the Quebec Referendum site on the Internet, and vote on a series of questions in response to a win by either the "Yes" or "No" forces in that province, participate in online discussion groups, and submit suggestions for two top ten lists for both the yes and no options.
The Internet site at
http://www.onlinedirect.com/
will be open until after the October 30th referendum. Results from the "Online Poll" and a "top ten" list of reasons for both Yes and No will be released periodically during the runup to the October 30, 1995 Quebec referendum, and can bee seen on Baton Broadcasting (CFTO ) and affiliate television stations across Canada. It is anticipated this will be the largest survey of public opinion, outside of the general election, in Canadian history."Obviously the issue of Canada's future is important enough to be put in front of every citizen," says Vezina, "not just those living in the province of Quebec. It's my hope this exercise will help stimulate the real debate - what happens after October 30th."
