English Canada overwhelmingly disagrees with Bouchard
For Immediate Release - October 19, 1995

In a rolling poll being conducted on the Internet for Baton Broadcasting of Toronto (BBS) by Online Direct Inc., 86% of Canadians surveyed have emphatically stated there should be NO political or economic association with an independent Quebec.

Canadians in the poll are saying citizenship should be refused to Quebecers by a 90% margin. 88% of Canadians polled favour giving Aboriginals living in Quebec, who do not want to separate, their own territory.

If Quebec votes "yes" in the referendum, 94% of Canadians surveyed believe Canada should impose trade sanctions or import duties on Quebec until it agrees to assume a satisfactory share of the national debt.

72% of Canadians polled believe a NO vote in the referendum does not mean Quebecers are satisfied with the Constitution. In the event of a No vote in Quebec, 72% of our participants agree there should be a new power sharing agreement between the federal government and all of the provinces. Over 1000 people have voted in the first seven days of the poll which will remain open until after the referendum.

"In light of recent polls showing a close vote in the referendum, we encourage all Canadians to participate in this Internet Poll because we believe that all Canadians should have a voice in this important and historic decision" said Greg Vezina, President of Online Direct Inc.

A unique factor of the Online Internet Poll is that it is an on-going rolling questionnaire that is accessible to all Canadians until Oct. 30/95 at the following address on the Internet: http://www.onlinedirect.com
